Anita Rossall Lifetime Achievement Award

Anita Rossall P.Eng.

ASN is pleased to announce the creation of the Anita Rossall Lifetime Achievement Award for Outstanding Volunteer Contribution to ASN, to recognize Anita’s dedication and generous amounts of personal time that she has volunteered to both Calgary Science Network (CSN) and Alberta Science Literacy Association, and thus indirectly to ASN.

The award will be presented from time to time to ASN volunteers throughout Alberta who are deemed to have had a significant impact on ASN programs by volunteering above and beyond the regular volunteer requirements. This award is presented to exceptional volunteers who have filled multiple roles within the society, who exemplify the society’s values and who have shown commitment for at least 10 years.

Anita Rossall’s leadership in science outreach at the elementary and high school level extends from being a classroom presenter for the Scientists & Engineers-in-the-Classroom program in Calgary to executive leadership and Board Chair for non-profit organizations Calgary Science Network and Alberta Science Literacy Association, which delivers volunteer hands-on science outreach programming to over 60,000 students across Alberta each year.
Anita’s leadership has helped spread the word across Alberta that “science and engineering is fun and integral to daily life”. Her commitment, enthusiasm and perseverance have been the driving force behind moving the two organizations to a province-wide model with the formation of the Alberta Science Network (ASN) with a sustainable future and raised profile in science outreach across Alberta.

Anita is also a very popular volunteer with Alberta Science Network’s Scientists & Engineers-in-the-Classroom program. Her presentation is built around hands-on activities and is oversubscribed by Calgary classrooms. Since 2006 Anita has presented to over 50 classrooms, reaching over 1500 students and their teachers.
